Leaders of the Kwara State chapter of Miyetti Allah, including their President, Idris Abubakar, have been arrested for alleged involvement in kidnapping and sponsorship of armed bandit groups in the state, it was gathered.
Investigations indicated that Miyetti Allah leader reportedly admitted to aiding multiple kidnapping operations linked to Fulani bandits.
Security source said: āThese are men over 60 years old, individuals who should be voices of peace, now accused of fueling terror and violence.
āThis case exposes a deep moral failure by specific leaders, not a community , and it demands full accountability under the law.ā
In March 2025, GISTSMATE MEDIA reported that the leader of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria in Kwara State, Alhaji Idris Abubakar Sakaina, was shot dead by gunmen.
His attackers accosted and shot him dead in front of his residence in Oke Ose, Ilorin.
āHis attackers left him in the pool of his blood. They didnāt collect anything from him and their motive for such action is surprisingā, a source said.
The Special Assistant to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Inter-Community Relations, Fulani, Muhammed Abdullahi, confirmed the development on Sunday morning.
According to him, āYes, he was killed in front of his residence on Saturday night by some gunmen who left him for dead.
