Nigerian singer Sola Allyson has opened up about her marital struggles, disclosing that she has never experienced joy in her marriage despite still being legally married.
The singer said she and her husband now live in separate houses following years of challenges.
Speaking on the Oyinmomo Podcast, Allyson described marriage as a difficult journey for her, noting that the experience has fallen far short of the happiness many people claim to enjoy.
“I must confess that I am married, but my husband and I decided to live apart; he in his house and I in mine,” she said.
“Marriage has been a big challenge. I hear people talk about joy in marriage, but I have never experienced it.”
The singer added that despite her efforts, the marriage has “not been successful,” prompting their decision to maintain separate homes.
Allyson also addressed a long-standing misconception about her career, clarifying that she is not a gospel artiste. She said the assumption stems from the spiritual and soulful nature of her music.
“I am not a gospel singer. My name is Sola Allyson,” she said. “Jesus does not need promotion, so I do not have to call His name in every song.”
Her remarks have since stirred conversations on social media, with many expressing surprise at both her marital revelations and her artistic identity.
