MAPOLY Union Leaders Visit SWAT Command In Ogun, Strengthen Security Ties With  Police

In a proactive move to strengthen the bond between the student community and the security agencies within Ogun State, the Student Union Executives of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta (MAPOLY), under the dynamic leadership of Comrade Afolabi Temitope “BIG AFO”, paid a courtesy visit to the Commander of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit, Ogun State Command, Commander Salami Murphy Akanbi.

The visit, which took place at the SWAT Headquarters in Ogun State, was a strategic engagement aimed at fostering collaboration and dialogue on issues concerning student welfare, safety, and security across the polytechnic community and its environs.

During the interactive session, Comrade BIG AFO appreciated the SWAT Commander and his officers for their tireless efforts in ensuring peace and stability across the state. He highlighted the union’s concerns regarding student safety particularly for those residing off campus and stressed the need for mutual understanding between students and security personnel.

Speaking further, Comrade BIG AFO reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to continuously advocate for the welfare of all MAPOLY students, ensuring that no student suffers any form of intimidation or harassment. He emphasized that the Student Union Government remains open to partnerships that promote safety, peace, and unity within the student community.

“As student leaders, our primary responsibility is to safeguard the welfare and wellbeing of our members. We understand that true academic excellence thrives only in an atmosphere of safety and peace. This visit is a demonstration of our commitment to strengthening relationships with security agencies who plays a vital role in ensuring that students can learn without fear. We appreciate Commander Murphy for his continuous support and look forward to a lasting partnership built on trust and understanding,” said Comrade BIG AFO, the Student Union President of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic.

In his response, Commander Salami Murphy Akanbi warmly welcomed the delegation and commended the Student Union for its sense of responsibility and leadership initiative. He recognized students as critical stakeholders in the society and assured them of SWAT’s unwavering commitment to their safety and welfare.
