The President of the Studentsā Union Government (SUG) of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Comrade Temitope Afolabi, has paid a courtesy visit to popular Nigerian hip-hop artiste Zlatan Ibile, securing a promise of a live performance during the institutionās forthcoming SUG Week celebration.
Afolabi, popularly known among students as Big Afo, led the delegation to meet the award-winning musician on Thursday, March 5, 2026. The visit was facilitated alongside the General Secretary of the Ogun Joint Campus Committee of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Adelola Hezekiah Babatunde.
During the engagement, the student leaders presented an Award of Excellence to the artiste in recognition of his contribution to Nigeriaās music industry and his influence among young people.
The visit, held in a cordial and lively atmosphere, was described by participants as a strategic engagement aimed at strengthening the relationship between the polytechnic community and key players in the entertainment sector. Members of the SUG executive and representatives of NANS were also part of the entourage.
Speaking with journalists after the meeting, Afolabi explained that the initiative was designed to open up opportunities for talented students within the institution, particularly those pursuing careers in the creative industry.
According to him, the union leadership remains committed to creating platforms where students with artistic abilities can showcase their skills and gain wider exposure.
āWe want to showcase our talented students and ensure their gifts do not fade away without recognition. Zlatan has assured us that during his visit for the SUG Week concert, he will take time to see and interact with some of our talented students,ā he said.
Responding, Zlatan commended the student leadership for what he described as a thoughtful initiative aimed at promoting youth development and nurturing emerging talents on campus.
The artiste also pledged to honour the invitation by performing live during the institutionās SUG Week activities, promising an engaging experience for students.
Zlatan, who studied at the institution before rising to fame in the Nigerian music scene, expressed delight at reconnecting with the polytechnic community, noting that the visit by the student leaders was both nostalgic and inspiring.
