No fewer than five personnel of the Nigerian Air Force have died in a ghastly auto crash along the Jos-Akwanga Express Road.
The personnel were among those attending a sports event in Abuja on 22 October.
Their vehicle is said to have collided with an oncoming truck, leading to the deaths of the personnel.
Confirming the incident in a statement on Tuesday, the Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF, Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, said efforts had commenced to provide support for the families of the deceased.
He said, āThe Nigerian Air Force deeply regrets to announce the loss of five of our gallant personnel who were involved in a tragic road traffic accident on 22 October 2024.
āThe unfortunate incident occurred around Hawan Kibo along the Jos-Akwanga Express Road. Our personnel were heading for a sporting event in Abuja when their vehicle was involved in a collision with an oncoming truck.
āConsequently, the statutory administrative protocols applicable in circumstances such as this have been activated by the NAF to provide comfort and support to the bereaved families.
āWe appeal to the public to respect the privacy of the victimsā families during this difficult time and to refrain from sharing unverified details. May their souls rest in perfect peace.ā
