The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced Okeke Chinedu Christian from Anambra State as the top scorer in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), with an impressive 375 out of 400.
The announcement was made by the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, during the 2025 Policy Meeting held in Abuja on Tuesday.
According to the registrar, Okeke secured the highest score in the national examination and has chosen the University of Lagos (UNILAG) as his preferred institution to study Mechanical Engineering.
Following closely behind Okeke is Ayuba Simon-Peter John from Gombe State, who scored 374.
Ayuba selected Afe Babalola University (ABUAD) as his first choice, also with an interest in studying Mechanical Engineering.
In third place is Jimoh Abdulmalik Olayinka from Kwara State, who scored 373. He likewise opted for Mechanical Engineering at the University of Lagos.
Interestingly, all three top-scoring candidates are male and have chosen the same course of study—Mechanical Engineering—indicating a growing interest in the engineering field among high-performing students.
The board commended the students for their outstanding performance and encouraged other candidates to remain committed to academic excellence.
