Clem Ohameze, the Nollywood actor, has refuted viral claims about his health and alleged estrangement from his children.
The controversy began when a Facebook user Okwuluora 1 shared concerns about Ohameze’s welfare, while claiming the actor had suffered financial difficulties.
“Clem Ohameze has been on my mind for over a year now, but I don’t know him too well & his financial status! Pls if you know him & think that he needs us to get better, please let me know! One of our finest,” the post reads.
The post included an alleged quote attributed to Ohameze stating that since suffering a stroke, only his daughter had cared for him, while his sons had “given up” on him.
“Since I got stroke, my daughter is the only person that has not given up on me. She has been taking care of me for over two decades now. My sons don’t care about me anymore,” the claim reads.
“They gave up on me too soon. They are busy making sure their wives and their kids are happy and my only daughter is making sure I’m okay.”
However, in a TikTok live session, Ohameze dismissed the claims as entirely fabricated, revealing he has reported the matter to both the police and the Department of State Services (DSS) as a case of cybercrime.
Ohameze expressed frustration over repeatedly being targeted by false rumours, recalling a past incident where he was falsely reported dead.
“I was so upset with the post, and as we speak, I have initiated a police case. I have already called my friend who is a director at DSS, and I have given him the name and number because this is cybercrime and it has to stop,” he said.
“If you want cheap popularity, go and get it somewhere else. It cost me a lot to come this far in my life, and I won’t allow an idiot to rubbish me for cheap popularity and page traffic.
“Why would you do that to your fellow human? The other time, it was that I was dead. Now it is that I am down with a stroke.
“Where did I say it? Who did I grant the interview to? Do I have three sons? If you heard something, why can’t you confirm before going public?”
The actor confirmed he had reached out to his only daughter to clarify the situation, emphasising that the entire narrative was “baseless”.
“It is very unfortunate because I had to call my children to ask if they had heard. But fortunately, it’s just my little daughter that I have. What have I done?” Ohameze asked.
