Glory Agbor, the wife of Dickson Agbor, a member of the Cross River State House of Assembly representing Obubra I State Constituency, has denied allegations that her husband physically assaulted her.
The claims emerged after a video circulated widely on social media showing Glory with visible injuries, with reports suggesting she had been beaten by her husband during a domestic dispute.
The footage quickly triggered public outrage and prompted widespread condemnation, placing the lawmaker under intense scrutiny.
Following the incident, the Cross River State House of Assembly announced the indefinite suspension of Dickson Agbor, citing what it described as alleged violent conduct while investigations into the matter continue.
However, in a fresh video posted on social media, Glory Agbor dismissed the allegations, insisting that no such assault took place.
Speaking directly to the public, she described the reports as “false accusations” and suggested that the viral footage may have been manipulated.
According to her, the video could have been altered or generated using artificial intelligence as part of an attempt to damage her husband’s reputation ahead of political activities in the state.
“I am here to tell Nigerians and people both at home and abroad that what has been circulating online for the past three to four days is a false accusation. Nothing of such ever happened,” she said.
She further questioned the authenticity of the viral footage, claiming it might have been part of a smear campaign.
“Maybe it is AI, or perhaps they want to use it to blackmail me and my husband. You know elections are approaching, and they may want to use this to bring him down,” she added.
Glory also maintained that she was unharmed and urged the public not to believe the reports circulating online.
“Look at me, I am fine and in good condition. Can you see any mark on my face or anything like that? Nothing like that ever happened to me,” she said.
The controversy continues to generate debate online, as the Cross River State House of Assembly is yet to provide further updates on the suspension or the outcome of any investigation into the matter.
