Israel has carried out a new series of airstrikes against Iranian military installations in Tehran.
In a statement released late Wednesday, the Israel Defense Forces, IDF, said its air force had launched “an additional wave of strikes” targeting Iranian government-linked military infrastructure across the capital.
“The IDF has commenced another round of strikes aimed at military assets of the Iranian regime throughout Tehran,” the statement said, noting that further operational details would be provided later.
The fresh attacks follow an earlier large-scale Israeli strike on a facility in eastern Tehran reportedly housing command centers and internal security personnel.
Journalists on the ground reported hearing a massive explosion Wednesday night, emphasizing the severity of the ongoing bombardment.
The conflict has fueled growing diplomatic tensions throughout the Gulf region, where neighbouring states are increasingly concerned about the widening hostilities.
Qatar’s Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, held his first direct discussion with Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi since the outbreak of the crisis, calling for an immediate halt to Iranian strikes.
Regional Arab governments have voiced strong condemnation after Iran fired hundreds of missiles and drones at Gulf countries, including Qatar, striking U.S. military installations while also causing damage to civilian and energy infrastructure.
According to a Qatari government statement, Al Thani rejected Iran’s claim that its attacks were exclusively aimed at American targets, warning that Tehran’s actions risk dragging neighbouring states into a conflict that is not theirs. He urged Tehran to cease all offensive operations immediately.
The military escalation has intensified over the past days, with Israeli air raids inside Iran and retaliatory Iranian missile launches heightening fears of a protracted and potentially broader regional war.
