GISTSMATE MEDIA reports that the Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old man for allegedly killing a six-year-old girl.
Spokesman of the command, Olayinka Ayanlade disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.
The suspect was said to have severed the head of the victim.
The suspect was identified as Sodiq Akorede while the victim was named as Mutiyatu Sunday.
The police spokesman said the suspect is currently receiving treatment for injuries he sustained when he was nearly mob by angry residents.
âFollowing the arrest, preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect, one Sodiq Kayode Akorede âMâ, aged 23, allegedly unlawfully killed a 6-year-old girl, later identified as Mutiyatu Sunday âFâ, and severed her head, which was recovered from him.
âFurthermore, upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the crime.
âHe was thereafter conveyed to a medical facility for necessary treatment following injuries sustained from the mob attack and will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for discreet investigation and prosecution.â
GISTSMATE MEDIA earlier reported that the Oyo State Police Command arrested 10 suspects for impersonation in Ibadan, the state capital.
The commandâs Police Public Relations Officer, Ayanlade Olayinka, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday in Ibadan, the state capital.
He said the suspects were operating from a hideout within the Ogunpa area of Ibadan, where they specialised in forging official documents, stamps and certificates belonging to government and private organisations. READ MOREÂ
