Usman Mohammed, a resident of Barikin-Sale area in Minna, Niger State, has been stabbed to death by a group of three men identified as Barafi, Ayya, and one other yet to be identified, following a confrontation over his girlfriend.
The incident happened on Monday night when Usman visited his girlfriend, Halima Usman, at Deeper Life Upper Base in the area.
While the two were seated outside chatting, the three suspects approached them and allegedly attempted to woo Halima.
The men reportedly offered her N5,000 to go out with them, but she refused. The encounter turned violent, leading to one of the men stabbing Usman in the back with a dagger.
He was rushed to the General Hospital in Minna for treatment, but died from his injuries on Tuesday morning.
Wasiu Abiodun, Police Public Relations Officer at Niger State Police Command, confirmed the incident on Wednesday and said an investigation was underway to bring all those involved to justice.
