A Lagos estate was thrown into mourning after a man allegedly killed his wife during a domestic dispute on January 8 and fled to Kaduna.
The suspect, identified as AY, is accused of carrying out the attack in the presence of their children.
Authorities have launched a manhunt and are appealing to the public for information.
A suspected case of domestic violence has left residents of a Lagos estate in shock after a man allegedly killed his wife during a violent altercation and fled the state.
The incident was disclosed by actress Ewatomilola, who shared details on social media, stating that the attack occurred on the evening of January 8, at about 8:30 p.m. The suspect, identified only as AY, is accused of fatally attacking his wife inside their residence.
According to accounts circulating within the estate, the woman was a mother of five children, two of whom are deceased, leaving three surviving children.
Witnesses alleged that the suspect, who was described as frequently intoxicated and abusive, asked his eldest daughter to fetch a sharp object while reportedly locking the other two children in a separate room.
Sources further claimed that the violence escalated after the man offered his wife a drink, which she refused. He allegedly attacked her repeatedly, inflicting fatal injuries before fleeing the scene.
Following the incident, AY was said to have escaped to Kaduna State. Ewatomilola alleged that the suspect was obsessively attached to his wife and may have acted violently after learning of her intention to leave the marriage.
Security agencies have reportedly been alerted, and members of the public are urged to provide information that could lead to the suspect’s arrest. Investigations are ongoing.
