A political affairs analyst, Ibrahim Modibo, has called for the sack of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, over the incessant insecurity ravaging Nigeria.
Modibo made this call on Friday during a live appearance in an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Prime Time’, noting that the NSA has failed.
He was speaking about the deteriorating nature of security in the country.
The public commentator also decried the recent terrorists’ attack on military Forward Operating Bases, killing at least three General Commanding Officers.
“The National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, should be sacked. He has failed. The security architecture has failed. And if someone is failing exams, will he continue graduating? He should be let go.
“You see, indeed, there is a need for us to break the glass ceilings with a view to plucking some low hanging fruits within the cycles of security in this country.
“Now, secondly, for me, there are some fundamental steps to take. Why are we not using technology?
“Apart from drone surveillance, assuming, without considering that our military is equipped with state of the art materials, is it not possible or don’t they have a surveillance camera that could capture around the visibility of the military control situation in those areas?
“The base is about five kilometers, so that 24 hours, we’ll have officers that will be monitoring, and this will be looking at all the bushes, seeing whatever, because Zamfara State Governor told us not long ago that in his office, he sees almost everywhere. So for God’s sake, can’t you use money to be able to get the technological input to have a satellite on the vicinity?
“Also, these terrorists, for a very long time, have been capturing people, going into the villages with people and then collecting ransom.
“For God’s sake, ransoms have been paid. The security know. Don’t they have this technological pin that they could put into the money to be able to track these criminals wherever they are?” He asked.
