OPEN LETTER TO HIS EXCELLENCY, ENGR. SEYI MAKINDE

His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde
Executive Governor, Oyo State
Oyo State Government Secretariat
Ibadan, Oyo State

Your Excellency,

APPEAL FOR FORGIVENESS AND PEACEFUL RESOLUTION IN OGBOMOSO

I am writing to Your Excellency with great respect and a constructive proposal regarding the situation involving the Chief Imam of Ogbomoso and the increasing tensions in the city. Recognizing Your Excellency’s unwavering commitment to fostering peace and unity in Oyo State, I believe that your guidance can help bring all parties together to reach a collaborative and harmonious resolution.

The incumbent Chief Imam of Ogbomoso has been an instrumental leader for the Muslim community, appointed to this role before the enthronement of His Royal Majesty, the current king. It is my earnest plea that His Royal Majesty be encouraged to forgive any perceived transgressions by the Chief Imam, for the sake of unity, the honor of his forefathers, and the legacy of the past kings of Ogbomoso. Allowing the Chief Imam to continue in his role will not only reinforce stability but will also foster a spirit of reconciliation and respect within the community.

Furthermore, I respectfully suggest that Your Excellency encourage the king to advise the Ayilara family to pursue their grievances through the court system rather than resorting to public actions that may disturb the peace. By handling any disputes through the appropriate legal channels, the Ayilara family will demonstrate a commitment to the rule of law, setting a positive example for all residents of Ogbomoso.

The recent public tensions have caused distress among the people of Ogbomoso, particularly within the Muslim community, where unity is paramount. Your Excellency’s guidance to the king, asking him to call upon the Ayilara family to refrain from further disruptive actions, would be instrumental in restoring peace. Through your esteemed leadership, Ogbomoso can be once again a community united by shared respect, tolerance, and understanding.

Respectfully,

Adeyemi, S.O
