Olubadan-elect, Oba Rasidi Ladoja, has said he never expected to ascend the throne so soon, admitting he thought the late Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, would reign for at least five to ten years.
Speaking on Monday at his Bodija residence in Ibadan, where he was received by family members, Baales, associates, and well-wishers, Ladoja described Olakulehin’s passing as a shock.
“I told myself I was not ready for the stool when I heard the news. I had thought Oba Olakulehin would be on the throne for at least five to ten years,” he said.
The Olubadan-elect, who returned from Lagos on Monday, first visited his Isale-Osi family compound before heading to his Ondo Street residence in Bodija.
He noted that he was outside the city when news of Olakulehin’s demise reached him.
