An activist from Kano, Comrade Muhammad Yahaya Barma, popularly known as Muhd Barma has condemned the murder of travelers from Northern Nigeria in Udune Efandion community of Uromi, Edo State.
In a statement made available to our correspondent, Muhd Barma described the attack as heinous, urging security operatives to swift into action and bring the culprits into the book of justice.
The statement reads:
I CONDEMN THE KILLING OF INNOCENT NIGERIANS IN EDO STATE: GOVERNMENT MUST TAKE ACTION
Innalillahi Wa’inna Ila Raji’un.
It is with profound sadness and sorrow that I condole with the families of the innocent Nigerians brutally murdered in Edo State. This senseless killing has left us emotionally devastated and heartbroken.
Nigeria’s diversity is our strength, and we must embrace one another as brothers and sisters to foster progress and development. The barbaric killing of innocent citizens is unacceptable and contradicts our values of humanity, patriotism, and civilization.
I strongly condemn this heinous act and urge our security agencies to swiftly apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice. The government must ensure that the culprits face the full weight of the law.
It is perplexing and disturbing that the vigilante group, instead of apprehending the suspected hunters and handing them over to the nearest police station for formal investigation and interrogation, resorted to extrajudicial killing.
This raises serious questions about their motives and the lack of trust in their system. One wonders why they deemed it necessary to take the law into their own hands, rather than allowing the due process of law to unfold.
In line with Islamic principles, I appeal to the government to provide diyya to the families of the murdered hunters.
This gesture will help alleviate their suffering and provide some measure of comfort.
The Edo State government’s delayed response to the incident is concerning. I urge the authorities to take swift action to prevent similar incidents in the future and ensure that citizens feel safe and protected.
As a religion that promotes peace and unity, Islam encourages us to remain calm and composed in the face of adversity. I appeal to the relatives of the victims to accept this tragic event as kaddara (fate) while the government works tirelessly to identify and prosecute the culprits.
I urge all Nigerians to remain calm and cooperate with the authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice. Together, we can promote peace, unity, and development in our great nation.
May Allah grant the families of the victims peace, comfort, and strength during this difficult time.
