GBAM! Nigerian Gen Z Lady Dumps Boyfriend For Refusing To Join ‘Yahoo’

A Nigerian lady, simply identified as Abike, has reportedly dumped her boyfriend, Markiss Lulu, for not engaging in internet fraud (known as “Yahoo”) to meet her financial demands.

The breakup, which Lulu detailed on his X handle, has drawn millions of impressions and a flurry of reactions, with many condemning the woman’s entitlement while others question the dynamics of their relationship.

According to Lulu’s post on X, his ex-girlfriend pressured him to take up “Yahoo” to address their financial situation, even dismissing his personal dreams as “useless.”

Despite gifting her significant sums of money, including ₦200,000 from a ₦450,000 gift he received, her dissatisfaction persisted, culminating in the end of their relationship.

Sharing details of the incident on his X handle, Lulu asked if he was wrong or truly insecure to deserve such treatment from his ex-girlfriend.

Attaching a conversation between him and Abike, he wrote:

“I don’t know if I was wrong, if I was truly insecure, but I can’t get over this conversation with my ex earlier this year. I pray God comes through for me and heals me.”

“Didn’t expect this to blow up, I can see all the words of encouragement and bashing. I have learned from my mistakes. And for those saying this is fake, this was when I was admitted to the hospital a few days after the breakup and the voice note she sent to me in the thread.”

The story has struck a nerve online, with X users weighing in on the incident.

@FaithElim offered advice to Lulu, stating:

“No woman with values will want her man doing Yahoo. You should have pulled out when she suggested it. Your relationship was built on money from the start, it’s a good thing it has ended now. Focus on your craft, use this as a lesson to date ladies with morals and values.”

The entitlement displayed by Abike also drew sharp criticism. @simplysnipes remarked:

“WTF… this is entitlement on another level. Does she think Yahoo boys don’t go broke too? What happens to her being responsible and taking care of her own wants? I blame guys that make women like this a priority.”

Meanwhile, @tirimisyjr didn’t hold back, stating:

“Firstly, Markiss, you dey craze. There were enough reasons to know she didn’t care about you. She was sick, yet she went out. Advising you to do fraud is enough of a red flag that she’s there for the money. You were gifted ₦450K, dashed her ₦200K, and yet you have to convince her?”

The viral post has fueled a larger conversation about materialism, moral values, and the pressures some face to resort to illegal activities for financial gain. While some defend Lulu’s decision to stay true to his principles, others see his ex-girlfriend’s demands as symptomatic of a growing culture of entitlement among certain individuals.
