The Kogi State Police Command has confirmed the killing of two persons in Ibado-Apacha, Omala Local Government Area, describing the incident as a case of armed robbery and homicide.
The confirmation was made by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP William Aya, in response to enquiries about the killings by gunmen between Tuesday night and the early hours of Wednesday.
Aya said, “The hoodlums invaded and robbed residents of a house in Ibado and shot two persons. When the victims were taken to the hospital, the doctor confirmed them dead.”
He added that the attackers later went to another house in Apacha, where they robbed a resident of an undisclosed amount of money before proceeding to the shop of a businessman, Abubakar Yusuf.
“They robbed Yusuf of 20 Android phones and 200 button phones,” Aya said, adding that one person escaped with bullet wounds.
The PPRO further disclosed that the police have launched an investigation into the incident, led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Investigation).
“Some members of the public are also collaborating with us by providing information to help arrest the perpetrators,” Aya added.
