Nine people have reportedly lost their lives in a fatal car accident along the Katsina-Kano highway on Saturday, 26th July 2025.
Basiru Lawan, a resident of Dambatta Local Government Area, told DAILY POST that the victims were all from the same local government and were returning from a wedding ceremony in Katsina State.
He revealed that four of the deceased are believed to be members of the same family.
Road accidents remain a major cause of loss of life in Nigeria. Just recently, more than 14 people were burnt to death in another tragic road accident.
Two months ago, over 20 athletes representing Kano State in a national competition also died in a road crash.
Analysts often link such tragedies to poor road conditions and excessive speeding by drivers.
As of now, neither the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Kano nor the state police spokesperson has issued an official statement regarding the incident.
