A former aide and chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Oyo State, Hon. Wale Ajani, has tendered a formal letter of resignation of his membership of the opposition party.
Ajani, who hails from Ward 6 in Ona-Ara Local Government Area o Oyo State, announced his resignation in a letter dated Saturday, January 10, 2026, and addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman.
He cited internal crises and lack of internal democracy as the reasons for his parting ways with the PDP.
Ajani, a former Director General, Oyo State Liaison Offices in Lagos and Abuja stated in his letter of resignation that his decision is a fall out of the prevailing uncertainties within the party at both the national and state levels, particularly the emergence of factions, caretaker committees and what he described as persistent absence of internal democracy.
He said, “This decision has not come lightly. However, due to the prevailing uncertainties within the party at both the national and state levels, I believe it is in my best interest, both personally and politically, to step aside at this time.”
Expressing appreciation to the PDP leadership and members for the opportunity to serve under the party, especially his contributions to the growth of the Oyo State government at various times, Hon Ajani also hinted at future political ambitions, noting that as the 2027 general elections approach, he intends to prepare himself for “a higher level of political engagement.”
He averred that the details of his next political move and possible alignment with another political party would be made public in due course.
Ajani concluded by wishing the PDP continued progress, while thanking party members for their support and camaraderie over the years.
