GISTSMATE MEDIA reports that Abdul Vicks, who went by the stage name of “YBC Dul,” was shot and killed in Olney Friday night, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The newspaper said that prosecutors said the popular 25-year-old rapper doubled as “the ringleader of a notoriously violent West Philadelphia-based gang.” The Inquirer said that police said Vicks was shot multiple times in the chest and right hand just after 3:30 p.m.
The newspaper said he was transported to the Einstein Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m.
The Inquirer also reported the gang that prosecutors say Vicks led was called “YBC” or “Young Bag Chasers.”
The newspaper said that said that Quamere Hall, a 22-year-old rapper who performs as “Mere Pablo,” was arrested earlier this month and charged in the shooting death of a 34-year-old man. It referred to Hall as “a Vicks associate.”
The Inquirer added that Hall was at the Criminal Justice Cetner when he was arrested because he was supporting another YBC member, Arshad Curry, who was facing sentencing for shooting five people, three who died, in 2021. The Inquirer said Curry was sentenced to up to 85 years in prison.
The newspaper also said three other “YBC” member were convicted last year of killing two teenagers.
Vicks’ nickname was also called “Mr. Disrespectful.” He went viral on social media back in February for a video that showed him digging up the grave of an enemy. Vicks was asked about that on the “No Jumper” podcast earlier this year.
“You know that was me,” Vicks responded when asked if that was really him in the video.
“I was trying to find that (expletive’s) grave,” he added. “He ain’t got one though. They ain’t never get him one.”
He then laughed.
“I’m not giving people clout no more,” he added. “I’m done with that. I ain’t saying no names.”
