Major General Chris Jemitola (Rtd), former Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo and a distinguished military officer, has passed away.
The General died after collapsing at the IBB International Golf and Country Club in Abuja on Thursday morning.
According to family sources, Jemitola was swiftly rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. The cause of his sudden collapse remains undisclosed.
Jemitola served as Obasanjo’s ADC from 2003 to 2007 while holding the rank of colonel, demonstrating unwavering dedication and professionalism.
His military career saw a steady rise as he later became the Director of Defence Information, followed by his role as Defence Attaché at the Nigerian Embassy in Brazil.
Before his retirement, Jemitola held the critical position of Chief of Policy and Plans (COPP) within the Nigerian Army, where his strategic expertise played a vital role in shaping military operations. Following his transition to the private sector, he served as a Senior Advisor for Military Communications at Pinnacle Communications Limited as of 2019.
His sudden passing has sent shockwaves through the military and defense communities, with colleagues and associates mourning the loss of a dedicated officer and strategist.
As of the time of this report, Jemitola’s family has yet to release an official statement regarding funeral arrangements.
However, tributes have begun pouring in from military officials and associates, honoring his legacy and contributions to national security.
