FLASH: APC Governor Denies Approving N70,000 New Minimum Wage

GISTSMATE MEDIA reports that the State Government of Yobe has dispelled rumors swirling online about the approval of a new N70,000 minimum wage, branding the claims as categorically false and misleading.

In a statement issued from Damaturu on Thursday, Alhaji Mamman Mohammed, the Director-General of Press and Media Affairs for Governor Mai Mala Buni, emphasized that the state government has made no official announcement regarding the new wage. The issue is still under careful deliberation, with a formal statement promised once a decision is reached.

“The Yobe Government has become aware of a duplicitous social media post falsely claiming that a new minimum wage has been approved,” Mohammed stated.

“We have not issued any official communication concerning this matter and will ensure that relevant updates are shared as soon as they are finalized.”

He condemned the unauthorized post as irresponsible, highlighting its vagueness and lack of source, which ultimately discredited it in a professional context.

Furthermore, a national daily that was erroneously linked to the post has clarified that the logo displayed was not theirs and that the story has never been published on their platform.

Mohammed urged the public to dismiss such misleading posts, reminding them that truth is paramount in these discussions.
