FLASH: 23 Dead In Suspected Gas Explosion At Nightclub

At least 23 people have lost their lives following a fire at a nightclub in Goa, India, according to local authorities and media reports on Sunday.

Most of the victims are believed to have been employees of the club, with their bodies recovered from the premises, Indian Express and other outlets reported.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire, which erupted around midnight, may have been caused by a gas cylinder explosion in the nightclub’s kitchen, Goa Police Chief told the Press Trust of India, PTI.

It remains unclear whether any patrons or staff sustained injuries in the blaze.

The tragic incident took place in Arpora, a coastal town in northern Goa renowned for its vibrant nightlife, beaches, and appeal to both domestic and international tourists.

The state typically experiences peak visitor activity during the winter months.
