GISTSMATE MEDIA reports that the 16 Northerners, who were lynched in Edo State have been laid to rest today, Saturday.
It was also reported that three others were buried on Friday, bringing the total number of people buried to 19.
According to Zagazola, they were laid to rest at the Udune Efandion community in Uromi.
“Grief-stricken families stood in silence, their faces etched with pain, as 16 coffins were lowered into the earth. The cries of mourners filled the afternoon sky, echoing through the village as a chilling reminder of the horrors that had unfolded just days before,” he posted.
The victims, who were hunters travelling from Rivers State to Kano State for the Eid celebrations, were attacked by a vigilante group and armed youths on March 27.
According to reports, the victims’ vehicle was blocked on the highway, and they were dragged out one by one.
They were severely beaten before being tied to used tyres, doused with petrol, and set ablaze.
Disturbing videos circulating online showed the victims pleading for their lives while a cheering crowd looked on.
Many Nigerians, including political figures, have condemned the act while calling for the arrest of the perpetrators.
Earlier, President Bola Tinubu, in a statement by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, vowed to ensure that the blood of Nigerians would not go to waste.
