A 41-year-old man identified as Perez Kingsley has been remanded in prison custody by the Ughelli High Court for allegedly defiling his one-year-old daughter and sodomising his three-year-old son, resulting in severe injuries to the child.
The accused was charged to court on Tuesday and is currently being held at Okere Prisons pending further legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The shocking case came to light last week when reports surfaced that Kingsley had repeatedly defiled his infant daughter and sodomised his young son, causing the boy’s anus to rupture.
Comrade Israel Joe, a prominent activist in Delta State, had last week issued a stern warning to the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, a PDP women leader, and other influential figures allegedly attempting to manipulate and suppress the case.
In a statement, Joe accused these individuals of using their positions to obstruct justice and vowed to hold them accountable.
“I want to urge the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, one PDP women leader, and other big wigs who are allegedly pulling stunts to ensure they kill the case to stay clear off this matter,” Joe declared.
Joe expressed frustration over the handling of the case by the police, particularly the decision to transfer the suspect from the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) back to the Ughelli Area Command.
“I see no reason the police would take the suspect to State CID and return him to Ughelli Area Command,” he stated, demanding transparency and accountability in the investigation.
The activist called for the case to be charged to court without further delay, warning that failure to do so would result in widespread resistance.
