The Football Association (FA) is preparing to punish Arsenal after their 1-1 draw with Chelsea on Sunday.
The match at Stamford Bridge was full of tension and drama. Arsenal managed to leave with one point, but the game was far from smooth for them.
Referee Anthony Taylor showed six yellow cards to Arsenal players, with three of those coming within the first 30 minutes. The team looked frustrated at times, and several players made rash tackles that earned them bookings.
Under FA rules, any team that receives six or more yellow cards in a single match must pay a £25,000 fine. Because Arsenal reached this limit, they will now be punished.
This is not a new experience for the club. Arsenal faced the same fine in February 2024 after a heated match against Liverpool, where they also collected several yellow cards.
The match also had trouble on the Chelsea side. Midfielder Moises Caicedo was shown a straight red card in the first half for a dangerous challenge, leaving Chelsea with 10 players for most of the game.
Despite the chaos, both teams still managed to score one goal each, ending the game level. The FA’s disciplinary action will now follow as part of their effort to control rough play and protect players.
