Ex-Oyo First Lady, Florence Ajimobi, Raises Alarm On Viral Video

Former first lady Florence Ajimobi has disowned a viral video in which she was seen purportedly boasting that the All Progressives Congress, APC will treat the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State as war.

Florence, the widow of the immediate past governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi was seen in the video purportedly boasting that the APC will deploy money and federal might in the battle against the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Oyo State.

But in a statement on Saturday, she disowned the video, describing it as AI generated.

She noted that forensic review of the video will review that it is “a synthetic fabrication created using generative AI.

“The footage is a “deepfake,” where artificial intelligence has been used to manipulate the lip movements and voice to deliver a script that Dr. Ajimobi never spoke,” Ajimobi said.

She also noted that the viral video is a is a clear example of the “synthetic deception” that experts have warned will be used to influence the 2027 political cycle.

“The use of AI to impersonate public figures and manufacture controversial statements is a dangerous precedent that undermines the integrity of democratic discourse,” Ajimobi said while urging the public, media houses, and security agencies to treat the video as a malicious hoax.

“In an era where digital manipulation is becoming increasingly sophisticated, it is vital to verify the source and authenticity of such inflammatory content before distribution”, the former First Lady said.

While expressing her commitment to the principles of truth and the democratic process, Ajimobi added that “she reserve all legal rights to seek redress against the creators and intentional distributors of this fraudulent media.”
