Several court-approved laboratories in the United Kingdom have declined to conduct the DNA paternity test on Liam, the son of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
GISTSMATE MEDIA reported that a magistrate court in Ikorodu authorised the conduct of three separate DNA tests abroad to establish the paternity of Liam.
Speaking after the court session, Oladayo Ogungbe, counsel to Joseph Aloba, Mohbad’s father, disclosed that two of the tests would be carried out in laboratories in the United Kingdom and one in the United States.
Ogungbe explained that representatives from both parties, including Aloba and Wunmi, Mohbad’s widow, would be present to oversee the sample collection process.
The court has eventually picked three DNA Laboratory centres, two in the United Kingdom and one in the United States. One from us, one from them, and the court picked an independent one,” he said.
Ogungbe revealed that representatives from the two parties, including Aloba and Mohbad’s wife Wunmi, will monitor the collection of the samples.
He added that the matter has been adjourned to April 7.
However, some of the UK labs have reportedly refused to proceed, citing the complexity of extracting viable DNA from the late singer’s embalmed body, which requires highly specialised post-mortem forensic expertise.
Lawyers representing Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, have raised concerns over the suitability of the chosen facilities, describing the situation as a setback in the long-running paternity dispute.
The controversy continues to generate widespread public interest and debate on social media.
