The Concern Nigerian Youths for Good Governance (CNYGG) proudly joins the multitude of patriotic Nigerians and stakeholders across the country in eulogizing the outstanding leadership and developmental strides of Alh. Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa, FCNA, FNIIS, the immediate past Managing Director/CEO of the Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC).
During his remarkable tenure, Alh. Yelwa redefined purposeful leadership with his bold, transparent, and people-oriented approach to governance and development. He embarked on groundbreaking reforms that not only repositioned HYPPADEC for operational efficiency but also made lasting impacts on the lives of people in the hydroelectric power-producing areas.
Among the numerous achievements of his administration include:
Robust Rural Electrification Projects across affected communities, reducing decades-long power deficits.
Youth Empowerment and Capacity-Building Initiatives, which created job opportunities and entrepreneurial support for thousands of young Nigerians.
Environmental Remediation Efforts to address ecological challenges caused by hydroelectric operations.
Strategic Community Interventions in education, healthcare, road infrastructure, and potable water, which improved quality of life in host communities.
Institutional Reforms that entrenched accountability, transparency, and sustainable development practices in the commission.
Alh. Yelwa’s leadership was not only effective—it was inspirational. He became a symbol of visionary public service, bridging the gap between government and the grassroots with sincerity and humility.
As a youth-focused organization committed to good governance, we at CNYGG firmly believe that Nigeria needs tested, transformative leaders like Alh. Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa in continued service to the nation. We therefore appeal passionately to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to consider re-engaging this exceptional public servant in his administration to consolidate on the legacy projects and reforms he championed at HYPPADEC.
Nigeria cannot afford to lose such a competent and selfless leader whose track record speaks volumes. We urge Mr. President to deploy his experience, wisdom, and reformist spirit for the greater good of our nation.
