Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has assured the Commission is working tirelessly to recover funds lost to the Crypto Bridge Exchange trading platform (CBEX) investment scheme.
In a video on the EFCC’s official X handle, on Monday, Olukoyede emphasised the agency’s commitment to securing justice for the victims.
He also cautioned members of the public against falling prey to fraudulent investment platforms.
The video was captioned: “On CBEX! The Eagle is working relentlessly to recover victims money, the Executive Chairman assures #OlaOlukoyede_
“Going forward, do not allow greed to push you into such scams afterwards.
“The Eagle cares.”
GISTSMATE MEDIA reported last month during an interview with TVC, Mr Olukoyede said the agency has recovered some money from CBEX.
He also disclosed that the EFCC has made arrests in connection with the fraud scheme
He added that the EFCC has made significant progress in its investigation into the crypto scheme that scammed many Nigerians.
“We have gone far with CBEX. We have been able to recover a reasonable amount of money,” he said.
Olukoyede explained further that although the stolen money was in cryptocurrency, the EFCC has managed to trace and recover part of it.
However, he noted that converting the funds back to dollars in cash was not easy because it required going through similar crypto processes.
