GISTSMATE MEDIA reports that the at least one person has died and six are missing, including tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch, after a superyacht carrying mostly Britons was caught in a tornado and sank off the coast of Sicily.
A one-year-old girl is among the 15 people who have been rescued.
Mike Lynch told a journalist who interviewed him only last month that he was âabout to go on a very long holidayâ after having spent more than a year under house arrest in the US.
West coast correspondent for the Sunday Times, Danny Fortson, said Mr Lynch was ready to take a âbig deep breathâ and relax with his family after being acquitted in a high-profile US fraud case in June.
Mr Forston said the case had âhung over his head for a decadeâ as Mr Lynch believed there was only 1% chance he would be found not guilty of crimes which couldâve seen him spend up to 25 years in prison.
Upon being cleared on all counts, he kept saying: âThis is like I have a second life, I have a new lease on life, Iâve won my freedom, now I need to figure out what to do with the rest of my life,â Mr Fortson told Sky News.
The journalist said barely a month later, âitâs kind of hard to believeâ Mr Lynch has now gone missing.
