The United States has approved an emergency Foreign Military Sale to Israel valued at approximately $151.8 million, providing 12,000 BLU-110A/B general-purpose 1,000-pound bomb bodies along with related munitions support.
The deal was announced by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Political-Military Affairs on March 6, 2026.
The BLU-110A/B is a hardened bomb body designed for penetration and general-purpose use, often paired with guidance kits for precision strikes from aircraft.
The package also includes U.S. government and contractor engineering, logistics, technical support services, and other program-related elements.
The principal contractor is Repkon USA, based in Garland, Texas, with a portion of the bomb bodies to be drawn from existing U.S. stockpiles.
In a notable procedural move, Secretary of State Marco Rubio invoked emergency authority under Section 36(b) of the Arms Export Control Act, waiving the standard congressional review period.
The State Department justified the bypass by stating that “an emergency exists that requires the immediate sale” and that it serves U.S. national security interests.
Officials emphasized that the transfer will bolster Israel’s ability to counter current and future threats, enhance homeland defense, and act as a deterrent in a volatile region.
The sale is described as supporting a key strategic partner that contributes to political stability and economic progress in the Middle East.
The approval comes amid heightened regional tensions, including ongoing U.S.-Israeli military operations against Iran that began approximately one week prior to the announcement.
Multiple reports link the urgency of the munitions resupply to sustaining Israel’s air campaign in this escalating conflict.
