The nationwide hardship protest in Kano has escalated into violence, with hoodlums taking advantage of the situation to loot shops and offices.
What began as a demonstration against economic difficulties quickly devolved into chaos as mobs attacked businesses across the city.
Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, also confirmed the development via his official X account.
After setting the Gatehouse ablaze, the protesters proceeded to loot furniture, rice bags, mattresses, fitted appliances amongst other things.
