The gathering signals a major shift in the region’s political alignment ahead of future elections.
Obi’s supporters from the South East are also expected to follow him into the ADC. Many of them arrived early at the venue, chanting solidarity songs and displaying party insignia.
The atmosphere reflects strong grassroots backing for the former Anambra State governor.
Peter Obi contested the 2023 presidential election under the Labour Party. He finished third but emerged as a major political force, especially among young voters and urban populations.
Since the election, he has maintained an active political presence and repeatedly hinted at contesting again in 2027 on a broader platform.
