BREAKING: PDP Leaders Change Venue For NEC Meeting As Police Take Over Secretariat

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced a last-minute change of venue for its Board of Trustees (BoT) meeting, originally scheduled for the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.

The decision follows the takeover of the secretariat by heavily armed police officers.

A notice posted across the party’s official social media platforms conveyed the change:

“Special Announcement!
Change of Venue for the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) Meeting.
The Meeting of the Board of Trustees (BoT) Meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), earlier scheduled to hold by 10Am at the Party’s National Secretariat in Abuja has been moved to YarAdua Center, Central Business District, Abuja.
All BOT members are by this notice advised to proceed to the new venue.
Signed:
Management.”

The party had earlier raised an alarm over the police occupation, sharing videos that appeared to show PDP staff and officials being manhandled by security agents at the Wadata Plaza headquarters.

The development has thrown further confusion over the fate of the PDP’s much-anticipated 100th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting. Deep divisions within the National Working Committee (NWC) continue to fuel uncertainty over whether the meeting will proceed as planned.

The faction led by acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, has insisted that the NEC meeting has been postponed. In contrast, the camp loyal to Deputy National Chairman (South), Taofeek Arapaja, maintains that the meeting remains on schedule.

Additionally, both factions have set overlapping meeting times for today, within the same premises. The Damagum group fixed its expanded caucus meeting for 1 p.m., while the Arapaja faction scheduled the NEC meeting for 2 p.m.

Last week, the Damagum-led leadership announced the recall of Senator Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary—a move swiftly rejected by the opposing camp, which insists that Anyanwu’s status remains unresolved.
