The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has called an emergency National Executive Council (NEC) meeting following the police invitation of its National President, Joe Ajaero, over allegations of terrorism financing.
The NEC meeting, scheduled for 8 am on Tuesday at the Olaitan Oyerinde Hall, Labour House, will have all heads of affiliates and state chapters of NLC in attendance. The meeting was summoned by NLCâs Secretary General, Emmanuel Ugboaja, in a notice titled âNotice of emergency National Executive Council meetingâ.
Ajaeroâs police invitation is connected to ongoing investigations into âcriminal conspiracy, terrorism financing, treasonable felony, subversion, and cybercrimeâ.
The police letter, signed by ACP Adamu Muâazu, directed Ajaero to report at the IRT Complex on Tuesday at 10 am, threatening a warrant of arrest if he fails to comply.
This development comes after security agents raided the NLC national secretariat in Abuja on July 7, with the police claiming they were searching for incriminating documents linked to an international âsubversiveâ figure.
