The Federal Government says discussions with China on the proposed zero-tariff policy, aimed at deepening economic cooperation between the two countries, have reached an advanced stage.
In a statement posted on X on Thursday, the Presidency confirmed that talks on implementing Beijingβs zero-tariff framework for Nigerian imports are progressing steadily.
During a meeting involving the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, PhD, and senior government officials, Nigeria reaffirmed its readiness to fast-track the modalities required for the rollout of the policy.
The initiative is expected to lower import costs, expand market access, and boost bilateral trade. Officials noted that mechanisms for implementation are currently being finalised, with both countries working closely to ensure a smooth adoption designed to promote international trade and drive economic growth.
