The Muslim Public Affairs Centre (MPAC) has dismissed rumours about the death of the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar.
The MPAC, which claimed the rumours were in circulation, described them as “unfounded”.
According to Disu Kamor, MPAC’s executive chairman, the Sultan is alive and in good health, fully engaged in his responsibilities as a spiritual guide to millions in Nigeria and beyond.
MPAC urged Nigerians to disregard malicious rumours and verify news sources, emphasizing that such speculations only serve to distract and mislead. The organization condemned the spread of false information saying it has the potential to cause harm.
MPAC requested law enforcement agencies to investigate the sources of the death rumour, identify and prosecute the perpetrators, and take measures to prevent future occurrences.
