GISTSMATE MEDIA reports that the governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwoolu has approved N85,000 as minimum wage for civil servants in the state.
This is in line with the federal governmentβs approval of N70,000 as minimum wage in Nigeria.
Governor Sanwoolu made this announcement on Channels TV this night in an interview session.
βYou mentioned minimum wage and what I need to throw in for my people. Iβm glad to let you know that the minimum wage for Lagos, which weβve discussed with our union, is N85,000 today.
βItβs not a competition, so Iβm not going to say that weβre paying more than some other people; itβs a function of affordability and a function of capacity,β the governor said.
