Chinese former minister of justice, Tang Yijun, has been sentenced to life Imprisonment.
Tang Yijun was sentenced by Xiamen Intermediate Peopleâs Court in the southeastern coastal Fujian province on Monday February 2 2026, for corruption.
He reportedly accepted illegal property worth more than 137 million yuan ($19.71 million) between 2006 and 2022, and abused his position to seek benefits for âentities and individuals in areas such as â company listings, land buybacks, bank loan and case handling,
The court ruled that âTangâs actions constituted the crime of briberyâ, and also deprived him of political rights for life, and had all his personal properties confiscated, âHindu reports.
GISTSMATE MEDIA reports that in April 2024, Tang came â under investigation for alleged corruption, and was later expelled from the Communist Party.
The 64-year-old began his career in eastern Zhejiang province, where he spent more than three decades â and rose to become provinceâs deputy Communist Party chief.
He later became Governor of Liaoning in October 2017, before his appointment as Minister of Justice in 2020.
