BREAKING: Fire Guts Lagos Govt Staff Quarters In Ogba

GISTSMATE MEDIA reports that a fire broke out early Friday morning at the Lagos State Government Staff Quarters on Odunsanmi Street, off WEMPCO Road in Ogba.

The blaze, which started around 2:20 a.m., severely damaged a two-storey building, specifically one of the two-bedroom apartments in Flat 5, located in Block 21โ€”a three-storey structure comprising 16 two-bedroom flats.

Initial investigations by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) revealed that the fire was caused by an electrical surge in the childrenโ€™s room.

The resulting blaze completely destroyed the room and caused significant property damage, estimated to be worth millions of naira.

Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyitolu, Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, confirmed that the quick response from LASEMAโ€™s Response Team (LRT), the Nigerian Police Force, and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service was crucial in containing and extinguishing the fire before it could spread further.

โ€œFortunately there was no loss of life and injuries sustained in the incident,โ€ Oke-Osanyitolu stated.

He also mentioned that residents were educated on the safe use of electrical appliances following the incident.

As of 5 a.m., emergency personnel were still on the scene, ensuring the situation was fully under control.
