BREAKING: FG Revokes 5% Telecom Tax On Calls, Data Services

GISTSMATE MEDIA reports that the Federal Government has abolished the 5 percent excise duty on telecommunications services.

The levy introduced under former President Muhammadu Buhari was to affect the cost associated with voice calls and internet data.

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) disclosed the decision in a statement posted on X on Thursday.

Confirming the development, the Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Aminu Maida, said President Bola Tinubu directed the removal of the tax during deliberations on the recently signed Finance Act.

โ€œThis is a clear signal that the government is listening to the concerns of Nigerians and is committed to making communication more affordable,โ€ he said.
