The Federal Government has cancelled the Independence Anniversary parade earlier scheduled to mark Nigeriaโ€™s 65th Independence Day on Wednesday, October 1.

The announcement was made on Monday in a statement signed by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations.

โ€œThe Federal Government wishes to announce the cancellation of the Independence Anniversary parade, previously scheduled to mark the 65th Independence on Wednesday, 1st October.

“The cancellation is in no way a diminishment of the significance of this milestone anniversary, and the government remains committed to celebrating Nigeriaโ€™s 65th year of independence with dignity and enthusiasm,โ€ the statement read.

The government expressed regret over any inconvenience caused by the decision and called on Nigerians to continue supporting the reforms of President Bola Tinubu.
