GISTSMATE MEDIA reports that Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of the late Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has survived the joint U.S. and Israeli air strikes on Iran.
Two Iranian sources confirmed to Reuters that Mojtaba is alive and was not in Tehran at the time his father was killed.
He is widely viewed by the Iranian establishment and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as the most likely successor to his father.
While Mojtaba survived, several of his close relatives were reportedly killed in the strikes, including his wife, Zahra Haddad Adel, as well as a sister, a brother-in-law, and a grandchild.
The Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei (86), was killed on Saturday, February 28, 2026, during a large-scale decapitation strike by the U.S. and Israel targeting high-ranking officials in Tehran.
An interim Leadership Council consisting of the President, the Head of the Judiciary, and a senior cleric is currently managing the country’s affairs while the Assembly of Experts selects a permanent replacement.
The conflict has caused significant volatility in international energy and financial markets.
Global oil and pump prices, notably in Singapore and other major hubs, have risen sharply due to fears of a widening Middle East conflict.
Major indices have experienced “energy shock” fears, with the South Korean KOSPI diving 12% and the Singapore STI falling 2.3% following the escalation.
