The All Progressives Congress (APC) has been declared the winner of the Kuje Area Council chairmanship election.
The APC polled a total of 17,269 votes to emerge victorious ahead of the opposition parties, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the African Democratic Party (ADC), which scored 15,824 and 716 votes, respectively.
While announcing the final results, Prof Nkeiruka Odoh of the University of Abuja commended participants in the poll for their patience, noting that although the Area Council election came last, the good news was that it ended in a peaceful atmosphere.
“I want to thank everyone who participated in the election. I appreciate your patience, but the good thing is that the environment has been very calm,” she said.
The professor also disclosed that out of the 175,271 total number of registered voters, only 39,799 voters were accredited.
