Controversies have erupted in Ward G1 of Surulere Local Government after alleged impositioning of a candidate by some factions of the party
In a series of videos sighted by our correspondent, protest surged after there was an effort to impose a candidate who didn’t have majority support especially from the delegates.
One of the delegates told our correspondent that there was no primary election in the ward. He said “we didn’t have any election in our ward. They tried to bring in a candidate against the wish of our leaders, when they saw that it’s impossible to win, they went away.
“It’s very funny to be hearing that a certain candidate has emerged from our ward, Surulere Ward G1. We didn’t not vote, we know who we want to vote for, we know who our leaders want, and that is who we are standing with.”
Preliminary investigations revealed that Mr Adebayo Sodeeq Bale and Braimah Olufunke are anticipating the councilorship ticket, but Adebayo was endorsed by the ward leaders on May 8, less than 48 hours to the elections.
The leaders of the ward, Hon. Tajudeen Ajide, a two times Chairman and Hon. Kabiru Lawal, a two term assembly member representing the constituency has also called for proper electioneering.
