Aisha Yesufu Threatens To Sabotage Peter Obi’s 2027 Vice Presidency Bid

Nigerian activist Aisha Yesufu has warned Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate from the 2023 election, that she will actively campaign against him if he chooses to run as Vice President under another candidate in the 2027 presidential election.

In a video statement released on Monday, Yesufu questioned why Nigerians often seem to settle for having their best candidates in second-place roles rather than leading positions.

Her comments come in response to recent discussions about Obi’s willingness to consider the vice-presidential role if he finds a more qualified candidate for the presidency.

Obi, who had previously expressed a readiness to collaborate with other political figures, including Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, for the 2027 elections, has stated that any such collaboration should aim at improving the lives of Nigerians, not merely securing political power.

He emphasized his commitment to seeing Nigeria progress, even if it means stepping aside for someone he believes can perform the role better.

However, on Saturday, Obi took to his official X handle to refute claims that he had expressed a desire to be Vice President in 2027.

He accused certain individuals of spreading misleading information and clarified that his focus remains on addressing Nigeria’s immediate issues, rather than speculating about future political roles.
