Hon. Blessing Onuh, a member of the House of Representatives and daughter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) National Chairman, Senator David Mark, has taken a frontline role in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election, joining the leadership of a pro-Tinubu campaign organisation at a politically delicate moment.
The move lands at the heart of Nigeria’s shifting political landscape, placing the daughter of a key opposition figure within the President’s re-election push and sharpening questions about loyalty, perception and cohesion within the ADC as the 2027 race begins to take shape.
Her appointment as National Woman Leader of the Take Action Campaign Organisation was announced on Saturday by its Director General, Tony Nwulu, a former member of the House of Representatives who sponsored the ‘Not Too Young To Run’ bill in the 8th National Assembly.
He presented Onuh’s appointment letter at the organisation’s campaign office in Abuja.
“I pledge to work tirelessly to ensure President Tinubu’s victory at the upcoming election,” Onuh said.
Her new role places the ADC National Chairman’s daughter squarely within a campaign structure built to drive the president’s second-term bid, even as her father remains one of the leading figures coordinating an opposition coalition under the ADC banner.
“This organisation is focused on showcasing the various achievements and educating the Nigerian masses on the reforms and policies of Mr President,” she added.
The timing is striking. Mark is not only chairman of the ADC; he is also central to efforts to build a broad coalition to challenge Tinubu’s re-election, an alliance that includes figures such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former governors Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi, Rauf Aregbesola, Aminu Tambuwal, Liyel Imoke and Emeka Ihedioha, among others, but which has already shown signs of strain and competing ambitions.
But the coalition has already been hit by high-profile internal setbacks. In January, Atiku’s son, Abba Abubakar, publicly broke ranks. dumping the opposition and joining the ruling APC, where he pledged to work for Tinubu’s second-term bid and directed his political structure to mobilise support for the president.
Onuh’s alignment with a pro-Tinubu group is less about party membership and more about what it signals: the growing pressure on the ADC to hold a united front.
Meanwhile, Nwulu said the Take Action Campaign Organisation is focused on promoting the administration’s achievements and explaining its policies under the Renewed Hope Agenda to voters across the country.
