A Call For Political Equity And Integrity In Ifedore: The Disruptive Influence of Ade Adetimehin’s Leadership – IYAGG

In the evolving dynamics of Nigerian politics, where representation should reflect integrity and equity, the recent actions of the Ondo State APC Chairman, Mr. Ade Adetimehin, call for urgent scrutiny and collective introspection.

Though a native of Idanre Local Government, Mr. Adetimehin has, in recent years, sought to exert undue influence over the political structure of Ifedore Local Government, exploiting the Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency alliance to advance personal interests rather than party ideals.

History recalls how, in the lead-up to the 2015 APC primaries, the two major contenders for the MHR ticket—Engr. Sumonu Famoritiye and Hon. Bamidele Badarinwa White—both from Ifedore, became victims of Adetimehin’s divisive tactics. Rather than promote unity, he allegedly manipulated both aspirants, resulting in personal financial gain. Notably, after the primaries, Adetimehin reportedly encouraged Engr. Famoritiye to defect to the SDP under false promises, while simultaneously meeting with Hon. Badarinwa in Lagos under questionable financial circumstances—facts which remain verifiable.

This pattern of manipulation continued in 2023 when Governor Rotimi Akeredolu reportedly endorsed Hon. Bamidele Oleyelogun of Ifedore for the MHR ticket, citing his strong candidacy. Yet, Adetimehin disregarded this directive, favoring Hon. Tajudeen Adefisoye (Small Alhaji) from Idanre his town, allegedly after receiving large sums of money. Ironically, he later worked against Small Alhaji’s candidacy in favor of PDP’s Hon. Festus Akingbaso (Fessy West), ultimately contributing to APC’s loss in the general election. Such actions are a clear indication of political sabotage and anti-party conduct.

Disturbingly, history appears poised to repeat itself. Reports indicate that Adetimehin is now engineering another betrayal of Ifedore’s political interest by facilitating the defection of Hon. Festus Akingbaso to APC and allegedly assuring him of support in Ifedore, all in a bid to maintain his financial and political grip across both local governments.

It is evident that Mr. Adetimehin’s continuous disregard for the unspoken agreement of power rotation between Idanre and Ifedore is not borne out of party strategy or electoral merit, but rooted in personal ambition and material interest.

We, the Ifedore Youth Advocate for Good Governance (IYAGG), call on all APC stakeholders in Ifedore Local Government to rise in unity and resist the ongoing attempt to undermine the political future of our community. Our constituency deserves equitable representation and leaders who prioritize the people, not personal enrichment.

Let history not remember us as the generation that watched Ifedore’s voice be silenced. The time to act is now.
